Chase and Reflection
Before the first ray of light shines in the morning, nothing in the world has yet appeared. The boundaries between light and shadow are blurred, as if they can overlap, and yet they seem destined to separate. People often say that the rising sun is a symbol of hope, but when it rises, it will inevitably cast a shadow. Between light and shadow, is it a pursuit or a companionship? This kind of thinking reminds me of an old fable: a horse is chasing an oasis in the desert, but it doesn't know that it is just a mirage. Every time it takes a step forward, the oasis also disappears.
Sometimes the goal we pursue is like an oasis in the desert. It is not nihilistic, but it is not completely real either. It is an image that exists in the heart, an unattainable shore. No matter how close we get, the distance always seems to be constant, and even the moment we reach out to touch it, it dissipates like smoke. Has the goal changed, or has our obsession made it blurry?
The same goes for reflections in mirrors. When you stand in front of the mirror and stare at yourself, who is the "you" you see? Is it a faithful representation or a gentle deception? The reflection in the mirror will always respond to your movements, but you can never embrace it or even touch it. This untouchable relationship is both regrettable and thought-provoking. If many things in life are like this mirror, does it mean that we are destined to only look at it from a distance but cannot truly own it?
"The greatest tragedy of mankind is that they are destined to pursue those things that are unattainable." At first, I sneered at this sentence. The world is so big, how could all our pursuits be in vain? However, after experiencing some unspeakable feelings, I gradually understood that this "unavailability" does not refer to absolute failure, but an irreversible gap between the goal and the goal. It may be the dislocation of time, the alienation of space, or even just a different state of mind.
Perhaps it is this feeling of not being able to completely grasp that gives meaning to the process of chasing. If everything is at your fingertips, will life lose its color because of the lack of some regrets? Light is distinct because of its shadow, and love is profound because it is unavailable. We experience hope in regret and discover ourselves in distance. Is this a secret balance?
When night falls, the morning shadow will be swallowed up by darkness, but it does not really disappear, it just changes its form and becomes an unquenchable glimmer of light in the heart. This light guides us. Although it is elusive, it is real. Perhaps, we don’t need to be obsessed with whether we can get it, but learn to accept the beauty of light and shadow in the process of chasing.
Everything in the world is a reflection.
