Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP)
Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is a water sport that originated from modern surfing in Hawaii. Surfers stand on a board that floats on the water and use a paddle to propel themselves through the water. This sport has rapidly grown in popularity around the world in recent years and has become one of many people's favorite water activities.
Experience 🌊
If you’re interested in stand-up paddle boarding, consider taking a dedicated course to learn about and experience the activity. I recently took a stand-up paddle boarding lesson on the east coast of Singapore and here is my experience.
The course lasted two hours, and the instructor introduced the basic knowledge and skills of SUP in great detail. They explain how to balance while standing on the board, properly use the paddle to propel yourself through the water, and how to steer and control the direction of the board. Although I felt a little unsteady at first, I quickly got used to the standing position and was able to easily master the technique of using the paddle.
The course arrangement is very reasonable and suitable for beginners. With the guidance of my instructor, I was able to pick it up quickly and only fell into the ocean once 😅, which I felt a little embarrassed about. However, SUP is a very fun and challenging activity, and falling into the water is part of the learning process. I believe that with practice, I can become more proficient and stable.
The course takes place in the open ocean on the east coast, which means we have free surfing in the open ocean. This open environment makes people feel very comfortable and free. However, we also need to pay attention to sun protection ☀️ as prolonged exposure to the sun can cause damage to the skin.
